How to use Favicon Generator

  1. 1

    Start with text or emoji

Enter your text (e.g., 'RF' for your initials) or paste an emoji. The tool accepts single characters or short strings (1-2 chars recommended for clarity at small sizes).

  2. 2

    Customize appearance

Adjust the background color, text color, font size and corner radius. For brand consistency, use colors from your design system. Dark backgrounds with light text (or vice versa) work best at small sizes.

  3. 3

    Generate all standard sizes

The Export panel produces PNG icons from 16x16 to 512x512, including 180x180 for Apple touch icons and 192x192 and 512x512 for PWA manifests.

  4. 4

    Deploy to your site

Place the files in your public root and add the link tags from the HTML snippet panel to your <head>, including apple-touch-icon for iOS.

  5. 5

    Cache busting tip

Add a version query parameter such as href="/favicon-32x32.png?v=2" when you update the icon, so browsers fetch the new version instead of serving a cached one.

Questions and answers

What is Favicon Generator?
A favicon is the small icon a browser shows in tabs and bookmarks; phones and installed web apps use larger versions. This generator draws one from text or an emoji with your colors and corner radius, exports PNGs from 16x16 to 512x512 as a ZIP, and writes the HTML link tags and manifest icons.
What sizes and formats does it generate?
It generates all standard favicon sizes including 16x16, 32x32, 180x180 (Apple Touch Icon), and 512x512 (PWA). Output includes PNG files, HTML link tags for your head section, and a webmanifest snippet for Progressive Web Apps.
